Glück auf!
With this traditional miners’ greeting, first used in the Ore Mountains in the 16th century, we warmly welcome you to our listed heritage house on Wolkensteiner Street in Annaberg-Buchholz. Our holiday apartments “Wolke 33” and "Stein 33" are offering a peaceful stay right in the heart of Annaberg. The rooms have been carefully restored and lovingly furnished.
“Wolke 33” and "Stein 33" are located at the rear of a Renaissance building, offering a beautiful view across the valley.
Like many historic houses, this one has seen a lot over the centuries: city fires, renovations and extensions, large families, a period as an office for passementerie* production, and later a mix of private apartments and small businesses.
Wolkensteiner Street once served as one of the main access routes into Annaberg’s old town and was lined with many inns. Today, it’s home to shops that meet everyday needs — a bakery, bookstore, hairdresser, butcher, organic food store, sports shop, fashion boutiques, shoe store, and the post office.
The view from the apartment is pure idyll: across a large garden, you can see the ruins of the Franciscan monastery and enjoy the sunset in the direction of Geyer.
*Passementerie are decorative trimmings for clothing or furniture — such as braids, cords, and ornamental buttons. They were essential to the fashion industry, theatre costume design, and military tailoring. From the 19th century until the mid-20th century, Annaberg was Europe’s leading center for passementerie and trimming production. Between 1878 and 1908, the town even hosted an American consulate that oversaw this trade.
We look forward to welcoming you!

Are the accommodations wheelchair accessible and suitable for people with reduced mobility?
The accommodations are not wheelchair accessible, although Wolke33 has limited accessibility.
The apartment is on the ground floor (street/access side).
There are thresholds of up to 5 cm between some rooms (from the entrance hall to the living areas).
There is a weatherproof threshold of approx. 9 cm at the front door.
The bathroom has no thresholds inside.
The shower is also threshold-free, with an access width of 105 cm and a depth of 1.5 m, making it relatively spacious. It is open (there is no shower door).
Otherwise, the bathroom is very spacious and offers enough room to move around, including next to the toilet (which has no fold-down grab bars).
The doorways are wide enough for wheelchair access, though maneuvering requires some care.
We have had guests tell us that the apartment is definitely usable with a companion, and also for solo travelers who can manage the limitations mentioned above.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about accessibility.
